What kind of information do we collect?
You do not have to give us any personal information in order to use most of this website. Geomares can reject your request if there are reasons why the data subject cannot be forgotten. Valid reasons could include: you still have an active print subscription with Geomares, or Geomares is awaiting a payment. If Geomares cannot comply with your request, you will be informed accordingly by either email, telephone or letter.
Right to restrict processing
Individuals have a right to block or suppress processing of personal data. When processing is restricted, Geomares will be permitted to store the personal data, but not further process it.
Purpose of the processing
The main purpose of processing the data is to segment our database, which is used for different objectives:
Better communication with you: If we can target our communication based on specific interests, we do not need to send all emails to the whole database. Better targeting means less unwanted or irrelevant emails for our subscribers.
Advertisers: Geomares sells advertisements to companies in the geomatics and hydrographic field. Those advertisers want to reach a specific target group.
Categories of personal data concerned
We store the personal data of all registered customers of the Geomares websites. We do not store financial information (credit-card numbers, etc). Personal information could consist of: first name, last name, location, address, postcode, city, country, interests, job title, company name, interests and preferred fields of application.
Data storage duration
If you have not visited any of the Geomares websites in the last three years, we will delete your information from our database.
User Navigation
Geomares websites keep records, without identifying the visitors, of general visit-related data (such as the most frequently visited pages) for the purpose of optimising the website layout. Furthermore, this data may be used to post more specific information on the website, so as to enable Geomares to further optimise the services it provides.
